POSITION SUMMARY
Sears Home Services is a business unit operating within Sears Holdings Corporation and represents a key competitive advantage for the company. Sears Home Services (SHS) provides product services for appliances, electronics, outdoor power equipment, residential heating & cooling systems, power tools and fitness equipment owners.
Specifically, SHS is comprised of the following Businesses and Support functions:
- In-Home Repair Services (12M Annual Service Events)
- Home or Product Delivery Services (4M Annual Service Events)
- Home Installation of Merchandise (0.8M Annual Installation Events)
- Carry-In Repair Services (1.7M Annual Service Events)
- Home Improvement Services (70K Annual Projects, 500M Contacts)
- Protection Agreements (24M Active Agreements)
- Parts Direct (27M Annual Customer Contacts)
- Call Center Operations (85M Annual Customer Contacts)
In addition to the operating functions, SHS also has teams dedicated to marketing, supply chain, workforce planning, pricing, project management, and strategy / sales / business development. - Junior status (in final summer before graduation)
- Major in engineering, finance, supply chain, business management, marketing or related fields
- High energy, enthusiasm and excellent judgment
- Strong sense of urgency and bias for action
- Superior analytical, problem solving, and technical finance skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well in cross-functional team environment

RESPONSIBILITIES >>
Interns spend their time working in the corporate office and are assigned specific projects throughout the internship. This project work will allow the intern to apply what has been learned in the classroom into a business setting. As a member of the Home Services team, your goal as an intern will be to provide support to business owners to establish and support strategic business direction. You will learn how to identify project value to the business, review and make recommendations on process flows that impact the customer experience, and further develop your analytical skills. Your performance in the internship will be assessed through formal and informal evaluations.
PAST PROJECT WORK COMPLETED >>
- Launch of the Shop Your Way Rewards Program for Home Services
- Pricing and analysis of market rates for services offered and the parameters that contribute to the set rate
- Review parts pricing strategy and make recommendations for improvement
- Update logistics and carry-in database and implement changes based on needs
- Analyze Freight Lines and Route shipping
- Develop process for self diagnostic appliances
- Assist in developing underwriting costs by geographical market
