The Store Management Structure
Support Manager or an Assistant Store Manager is responsible for merchandising displays, unit and pricing accuracy, and the management and development of associates in a variety or areas and departments within a Kmart or Sears store. Possible areas or departments include Apparel, Appliances, Home Fashions, Jewelry, Cosmetics, Consumables, Electronics, Sporting Goods, Automotive, Hardware, Lawn & Garden, Facilities & Operations and General Merchandise areas of the store.
A Store Manager oversees all store operations, including implementation and maintenance of corporate programs, merchandising, customer service, financial, and human resource management. The store manager sets the tone of the entire organization through their leadership, management, and communication styles. Support Coaches and Assistant Store Managers report directly to the Store Manager.
Four Distinct Management Development Programs
Management Trainee - The Retail Holdings Management Training Program is designed for the college graduate with limited or no retail experience. This program offers intense, engaging, hands-on experience, the most comprehensive you can get in the industry. After successful completion of this program, you will be promoted to a Support Manager or Assistant Store Manager role. With your ongoing participation in our Retail Management Development Program, your day-to-day management experiences will prepare you to fully realize your future leadership potential.
Support Manager or Assistant Store Manager In Training - If you're a retail manager with grocery, discount, drugstore, or department store experience, the Support Manager/Assistant Store Manager In Training program puts you on the fast track to a successful Sears or Kmart career. This accelerated program leverages your existing retail knowledge and experience while helping you learn and understand Sears Holding's policies, procedures and systems.
Store Manager In Training - Designed for the experienced, high-volume retail store manager, the Store Manager In Training program is specially developed training so you can showcase your management talent in a Kmart or Sears store environment. When your training is complete, you'll be fully prepared for the responsibilities of a Sears Holdings Store Manager.
District Manager In Training - This program is developed for the experienced multi-unit retail manager. The District Manager in Training program is rotational training with the Regional Vice President and support team. When training is completed, you are ready to assume a role as a Sears Holdings District Manager.
