Sears Holdings to Locate E-Commerce Development Center in Downtown Chicago

Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: SHLD) today announced that beginning in the first half of next year, the company will create a new E-commerce Development Center at 2 N. State Street, where the company currently operates its Sears on State flagship store.

"Chicago has long been a part of Sears' heritage and we're excited about the opportunity to bring these highly skilled, salaried jobs to the vibrant downtown area," said Paul Miller, senior vice president, Direct Commerce, Sears Holdings. "We chose downtown because of its proximity to a strong pool of e-commerce talent, as well as the colleges and universities in the city as we continue to seek the best and brightest minds to support our initiatives."

"It's anticipated that the center will eventually employ up to 100 highly skilled IT employees," said Karen Austin, executive vice president and Chief Information Officer, Sears Holdings. "We've already started the recruiting process to fill a number of developer, technical architect and project manager positions."

"We are very pleased that Sears is establishing its new E-commerce Development Center in its downtown store," said Lori T. Healey, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development. "Their decision speaks not only to the vitality of State Street but also to the importance of Chicago as the center of commerce and industry in the Midwest."

"Sears has called Chicago its home for most of the company's history and we're happy to see the new Sears Holdings Corporation embrace those roots," said Chicago Alderman Burton Natarus (42nd).

The employees of Sears Holdings' E-commerce Development Center join the associates of Sears' flagship store at 2 N. State Street and will occupy offices on the building's 4th floor.
