Attention Kmart Shoppers: Craftsman® - The Number One Tool Brand - is Now Available at Kmart Stores Nationwide
Beginning this fall, Kmart customers will be able to purchase America's number one tool brand, Craftsman, in the nearly 1,400 Kmart stores nationwide. Craftsman is already sold in over 900 Sears full-line stores, Sears Grands, and through a limited number of Sears Hardware, Sears Dealer and Orchard Supply Hardware stores. With the rollout to Kmart, the Craftsman brand will now be available at more than 2,500 locations in the United States and on sears.com.
"We took the concept of selling Craftsman products into select Kmart stores this Spring to gauge customers' reactions," said Greg Inwood, vice president of tools, hardware and paint at Sears Holdings Corp. Craftsman merchandise was sold in 120 Kmart stores in 2005 and during the Father's Day selling season in 2006 as part of a test. "Customer response exceeded our expectations," Inwood said. "They told us they like the added convenience of buying Craftsman tools at additional locations and we feel that providing Craftsman products in all Kmart stores will allow our customers to shop for the tools they love while picking up items for their everyday needs."
According to Inwood, customers are very interested in Craftsman hand tools on a day-to-day basis and also attracted to portable power tools during holiday periods. The assortment of Craftsman tools available at Kmart will be the same high-quality that customers have learned to love and trust while shopping at Sears. The number of Craftsman products at Kmart locations will vary depending on the space available. For example, recently remodeled Kmarts will carry more than 1,800 Craftsman items while other Kmart stores will display about 500 SKUs.
"We see this as a tremendous opportunity to enhance Kmart's tool and automotive departments. Craftsman products have been used by generations of Americans and by delivering a sizable selection of high quality, durable Craftsman tools and merchandise we really feel we can deliver more great products to our customers," said Bill Stewart, Kmart's chief marketing officer.
Craftsman is America's number one tool brand. Craftsman tools are the official tools of NASCAR (National Association of Stock Car and Auto Racing). Craftsman is the primary sponsor of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
