Kmart Awards $20,000 to First National Winners in 'Super Service Sweepstakes'

Two lucky Kmart customers will be able to put more presents under the tree this year after each winning $10,000 by calling a new 800 customer service line and telling Kmart about their shopping experiences.

Felicia Petre of Tustin, Calif., and Christina Chavez of West Valley, Utah, were the October and November winners in the national sweepstakes, which was launched in all Kmart stores on Oct. 1.

"At Kmart, customers rule," said Dave Easterbrook, Kmart Divisional Vice President, Customer Service. "Kmart's new Super Service Sweepstakes allows us to hear feedback directly from the customers who frequently shop each store, and we're proud to reward them for taking the time to respond to the survey. They are providing us with invaluable information that we need to offer a more satisfying shopping experience."

The Super Service 800 number is randomly printed on cash register receipts. If customers call the number within three days of the date on the receipt and participate in a brief survey about their shopping experience, they are automatically entered into that month's sweepstakes. One name is drawn for the $10,000 prize each month.

No purchase is necessary to enter the sweepstakes. Those who do not purchase products can mail their entry. Official rules for the sweepstakes are posted at the Customer Service Desk in the stores.

Through the Super Service Sweepstakes, Kmart store managers are getting back to basics. Each manager receives regular reports with detailed feedback about their store from customers that shop there, allowing the managers to make changes to the store that directly reflect the needs of their local market.
