Kmart Corporation Names Randy L. Allen, Executive Vice President, Strategic Planning and Chief Information Officer

Kmart (NYSE: KM) Chairman and CEO Chuck Conaway today announced the appointment of Randy L. Allen to the post of Executive Vice President, Strategic Planning and Chief Information Officer, effective immediately. In this new senior executive position that will report directly to Chuck Conaway, Allen will oversee all aspects of corporate strategic planning as well as the company's information systems and technology.

"Randy Allen is highly regarded as an expert on supply chain effectiveness, product development, merchandising, logistics, information technology and vendor/retailer relationships," said Conaway. "With 25 years in the industry, she brings a wealth of talent and experience that will be instrumental as we implement new technology, systems, business processes and strategies that will enable Kmart to achieve world-class execution that benefits Kmart customers nationwide."

Allen joins Kmart from Deloitte Consulting where she is a Partner specializing in retail, apparel manufacturing and distribution industries, having joined Touche Ross in 1976. One of the first two women Partners in management consulting at Deloitte & Touche LLP, her clients have included Kmart, CVS and Federated Department Stores. For three years she served as Chief Information and Administrative Officer for Phillips Van Heusen Corporation. While there, she integrated Crystal Brands into the company and, for a period of time, ran distribution and logistics. Before Randy Allen began her consulting career she worked for IBM and Boeing. She is a Cornell graduate as well as the author of numerous articles on retailing and a book, "Bottom Line Issues in Retailing."
