Kmart Corporation Announces Executive Move

Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM) today announced that Michael J. Viola, 46, Vice President and Treasurer, will leave the company to accept a new opportunity with SBC Communication, Inc. based in San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Viola joined Kmart in 1996 and has been responsible for all treasury functions for the retailer as well as public liability and investor relations. A search will begin immediately to fill the open post at Kmart.
